AXIS Capital makes two major executive appointments

AXIS Capital Holdings Limited announced two major appointments today. Mark Gregory has been appointed Head of Global Markets while J. McKenna was appointed Head of North America. They will both report directly to Vince Tizzio, President and CEO of AXIS.

Mark and Mike are great leaders who exemplify our emphasis on underwriting and operational excellence, Mr. Tizzio stated in response to questions about these selections.

As we assist AXIS in reaching its full potential as a specialist underwriter that regularly produces financial outcomes for our shareholders and value for our customers, their leadership will be crucial. In order to do this, we’re drawing on our history as a highly successful underwriting business, one that is renowned for the knowledge and subject-matter expertise of its employees as well as the superior quality of service it offers to its clients.

Mr. Gregory, who most recently served as CEO of the International Division, will now be in charge of the underwriting and business expansion plans for the Company’s international retail business lines in EMEA, APAC, and Latin America, as well as its global practices, which include cyber and A&H insurance.

“Mark is a proven leader with a broad understanding of the specialty and retail industries around the world and a demonstrated record of success,” said Mr. Tizzio. “Mark also grew our International Division to be among the top performers in the London and Lloyd’s industry.

For the Company’s North American Wholesale and Retail divisions, Mr. McKenna will be in charge of overseeing underwriting and business expansion plans. He will also receive reports from Digital and Global Distribution (Insurance).

He served as the chief operating officer (CUO) for Falvey Insurance Group, The Hartford (Global Specialty Division), Navigators (U.S. Insurance Segment), and Aon Benfield’s Specialty Reinsurance Division before joining AXIS.

Mike has effectively led specialty underwriting divisions at top-tier organizations while developing, putting into practice, and carrying out plans that have produced sustainable profitable growth businesses, according to Mr. Tizzio. “Mike is an excellent leader with deep underwriting acumen,” he added.
