Weston M. Hicks Elected to the White Mountains Board
Weston M. Hicks has been elected Chairman of the Board of the White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. He takes over for Morgan Davis, who resigned from the board with immediate effect.
Hicks formerly served as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alleghany Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway wholly-owned subsidiary. Hicks formerly held the position of Chief Financial Officer at The Chubb Corporation before joining Alleghany.
Hicks formerly worked for J.P. Morgan as a Senior Research Analyst and Managing Director.
Hicks remarked of his new position, “I am honored to assume the leadership of this unique and wonderful company.” The whole Board honors Morgan for his six-year leadership as Chairman and 17-year tenure as a Director, as well as the significant value he has delivered for shareholders in many positions and over many decades, from the Fireman’s Fund to the present.
Morgan has been a valued and trusted partner and mentor to me over the past 20 years, according to Manning Rountree, Chief Executive Officer. I will miss his excellent counsel, common sense, and sense of humour, for which I am grateful. We wish Morgan and Sandy the best of luck in the future.
He went on to say that the board and management team are excited to work with Weston in his increased capacity. With his considerable expertise and thorough understanding of all facets of our business, Weston is an ideal fit for White Mountains.
