Sang Hun Park returns to Allianz Re to lead retrocession

Allianz Re, the global reinsurance unit of the Allianz Group, announced Sang Hun Park as its newest global head of retrocession, effective 1 May. Park joins from Munich Re, where he has been a senior origination manager since August 2021.

Park had previously worked at Allianz Re, where she gained substantial expertise and a thorough understanding of the company’s reinsurance operations and retrocession requirements. He started working for the company as a non-life treaty underwriter in August 2012.

In 2016, he transitioned into senior underwriting positions for non-life treaties and P&C specialties, and in March 2018, he was appointed senior retrocession manager.

After serving in this capacity for more than three years, Park departed Allianz Re to work as senior manager origination for Munich Re Capital Partners, one of the biggest reinsurance businesses in the world. After spending almost a year and a half at Munich Re, Park is scheduled to rejoin Allianz Re to oversee its international retrocession division.

Park began his career at Korean Re as a marine hull underwriter in 2006, before becoming am underwriter of Japanese treaty reinsurance for the company.

Experience gained at Munich Re Capital Partners must have given him more exposure to the capital market and structured solutions for risk transfer.
