Lloyd’s appoints Beazley’s Rachel Turk as new CUO

Rachel Turk has been named Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) at Lloyds. She will be reporting to Patrick Tiernan, Chief of Markets.

Turk will be responsible for managing the performance of Lloyds’ market, as well as heading the underwriting function in support of the company’s strategic objectives, in her new position.

She will also be in charge of facilitating discussions on sustainability plans with all market participants, including insurers, brokers, and customers.

Tiernan remarked of the hiring, “I am delighted that Rachel is joining Lloyds as Chief Underwriting Officer.” Her exceptional industry reputation, along with her technical competence and market understanding, will be extremely beneficial to Lloyds as we strive to improve the performance of our market.

Rachel Turk is a licensed accountant who joins Lloyds from Beazley PLC, where she was most recently Group Head of Strategy and a member of the Executive Committee. She formerly oversaw the firm’s underwriting division for US directors and officers.

She previously worked as an equity analyst at JP Morgan Cazenove for over two years and as a corporate finance professional at EY for over three years before joining Beazley. Rachel Turk also serves on the boards of the Lloyds Market Association (LMA) and the London Market Group (LMG).
