Jon Colello Named Chair of RAA Board of Directors
PartnerRe President Jon Colello has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), the national trade body representing U.S.-based property and casualty reinsurers. The announcement was made during the RAA’s 57th Annual Meeting.
Jon Colello Brings Leadership and Vision to RAA
Jon Colello, who became President of PartnerRe in April 2024, brings deep expertise and decades of industry experience to his new leadership role at RAA. At PartnerRe, Colello currently oversees global non-life underwriting operations. Before this, he served as CEO of Property & Casualty Americas, where he led business efforts across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
Colello has been with PartnerRe since 2019, following key leadership roles at AXIS Re. During his time at AXIS, he guided underwriting operations in Bermuda, Canada, and the United States. Academically, he holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Vermont.

Nic Berg, Head of Property & Casualty North America at SCOR, who has been elected Vice Chair.
John Bender, Chairman of Reinsurance and Risk Management at Allied World, who now serves as Secretary-Treasurer.
Nic Berg Supports Jon Colello’s Leadership as Vice Chair
In his role as Vice Chair, Nic Berg will support Jon Colello’s leadership in guiding the RAA. Berg oversees SCOR’s North American P&C operations. He joined SCOR in 2022 after nearly 20 years with AIG, where he held senior roles in New York, London, and Paris, including a term as Chief Claims Officer for North America from 2017 to 2019.
Berg began his professional journey at SCOR US in the finance department. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Paris II and a Master’s in International Risk Management from HEC Paris. He is currently based in New York.
John Bender Joins Jon Colello as RAA Secretary-Treasurer
Joining the executive team alongside Jon Colello, John Bender now serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the RAA Board. Bender is Chairman of Reinsurance and Risk Management at Allied World and sits on the company’s Executive Board. He was instrumental in developing Allied World’s reinsurance platform in the U.S. and previously oversaw its global reinsurance operations from 2011 to 2023.
Outside his corporate responsibilities, Bender co-founded the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has distributed over $350 million for pediatric cancer research. He earned a Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University and continues to serve on its Board of Governors.
