Position Overview
The Insurance & Reinsurance Brokerage Account Manager is responsible for managing and developing client relationships, negotiating and securing business opportunities, and ensuring the efficient placement of insurance and reinsurance programs. This role requires a strong ability to identify client needs, develop tailored risk solutions, and liaise effectively between clients, insurers, and reinsurers. The ideal candidate should be bilingual (English & French), highly skilled in negotiation, and experienced in winning new business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, insurers, and reinsurers.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop tailored insurance and reinsurance solutions to meet client needs.
- Conduct regular client meetings to assess risk exposure, coverage adequacy, and emerging risks.
- Negotiate the best terms and conditions with underwriters, ensuring optimal solutions for clients.
- Present and explain insurance products, reinsurance treaties, and risk transfer mechanisms effectively to clients.
2. Negotiation & Placement of Insurance and Reinsurance Programs
- Develop comprehensive risk placement strategies based on client requirements and market conditions.
- Prepare and present client submissions to insurers and reinsurers, ensuring competitive pricing and coverage.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and conditions with international and local insurers/reinsurers.
- Secure and finalize agreements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Handle facultative and treaty reinsurance placements and coordinate with reinsurance markets.
3. Market & Industry Analysis
- Monitor trends in the insurance and reinsurance markets to advise clients on risk solutions.
- Keep up to date with regulatory changes, compliance requirements, and emerging risks in the industry.
- Analyze client risk portfolios and provide strategic recommendations for risk transfer and mitigation.
4. Policy & Claims Management Support
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, policy issuance, and endorsements.
- Assist clients in claims negotiation and settlement, working closely with insurers and reinsurers.
- Support clients in understanding policy coverage, exclusions, and dispute resolution processes.
5. Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, negotiations, and policy placements.
- Prepare periodic reports on account performance, market trends, and business development activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and international insurance standards.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance brokerage, underwriting, or risk management.
- Strong understanding of facultative and treaty reinsurance structures.
- Experience in negotiating with insurers, reinsurers, and corporate clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and insurance brokerage management systems.
- Professional certifications (ACII, CPCU, or equivalent) are a plus.
Work Environment
- Location: Office-based with frequent client and market visits.
Work Environment & Conditions
- Work Hours: Full-time, Monday to Saturday (Occasional overtime may be required).
- Work Location: Office-based.
- Reporting Line: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer and Business Development manager.
