Gallagher will open a brand-new insurance brokerage in Japan. The new company will concentrate on offering wholesale fac insurance as well as insurance for commercial clients.
Based in Tokyo, the company will support Gallagher’s existing reinsurance team in the area and become a part of the North Asia operations led by regional CEO Thomas Wang. Tetsuro Nakazawa and Takuya Aibe will serve as its leaders.
Takuya Aibe will be in charge of overseeing the insurance and risk management services that are provided to clients, while Nakazawa will be in charge of overseeing the wholesale and fac division.
Takuya is joining the team from Marsh, where he held the positions of managing director and CEO of the retail operations. Nakazawa also comes over from Marsh, where he served as placement leader.
According to Gallagher, “the launch marks another significant milestone in Gallagher’s plans to expand throughout Asia.”
In response to a question about Gallagher’s plans for growth in Asia, Wang states: “Gallagher’s proposition is all about delivering a great service to clients, which I am passionate about, and having a team based directly in Japan will enable us to ensure that our regional and multinational clients will get the very best in local knowledge and technical insurance expertise.”
