Broker Insights appoints Tom Duke as Chief Operating Officer

Tom Duke, a seasoned executive in Scotland’s burgeoning technology sector, has joined Broker Insights as Chief Operating Officer.

The seasoned executive has over twenty-five years of experience working in IT firms, including Broker Insights, where he designed and developed technologies to meet the demands of quickly expanding industries.

Tom Duke will use his technical knowledge and expertise not only on the award-winning platform of Broker Insights but also on the operational issue of ensuring that the firm expands into new areas.

Fraser Edmond, CEO of Dundee-based Broker Insights, said,

Tom joins Broker Insights at a critical juncture in our company’s history. His prior expertise guiding transformational change in the pursuit of growth is exactly aligned with our goals. Our expansion into the United States, where we are conducting a trial, is critical to our international business plans.

In the coming years, Tom’s insight and knowledge of scaling technology companies to prepare for this type of expansion will be invaluable.”His experience at TVSquared in managing cloud-based infrastructure on a global scale while responding to ever-increasing consumer demand would be especially valuable.

The veteran oversaw technological strategies and directed teams across the US and EMEA region as Chief Information Officer of TVSquared, which was bought by the American firm Innovid in February 2022.

Prior to that, Duke was the Operations Director at Brandwatch and the Chief Technology Officer at iBAHN, where he led a worldwide team to provide market-leading network and video technologies to the hospitality industry. He has previously held top positions at Memex, Orbital Software, and Vision Consulting.

In response to his new post, Duke stated,

“Creating a great product – which Broker Insights has undeniably done – is only ever half the battle for technology firms.”Platforms like ours must be capable of managing billions of data points at high speeds in order to provide the best results for our clients and their customers. To do so successfully while rapidly growing the business, the great infrastructure around the product and excellent processes within the organization are required. “That combination of technical and operational challenges is hugely motivating for me, and I have already been impressed by the vision and expertise of my new colleagues at Broker Insights and what they have achieved to date.”

Broker Insights, which was founded in 2018, completed a successful Series A investment round in 2021. With the extra funding, the team grew to 60 people, and the company invested in its data science capabilities and analytics tools.

The Broker Insights Vision platform, which connects brokers and insurers, currently has more than £2 billion gross written premium of the UK commercial insurance broker industry and more than 20% of the British regional broker market.
