The U.S. Mid-Market team at AXA XL Insurance has grown even more with the hiring of Matthew Duke as Head of Pricing, U.S. Middle Market Analytics.
Duke is a former Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary of Xceedance and Head of Global Actuarial Services. He joins AXA XL. He formerly held the positions of interim Head of Risk and Head of Pricing and Growth Analytics for Blackboard Insurance. In addition, Duke has held a variety of pricing and reserving jobs at Guy Carpenter, Arch Insurance, and Travelers during the course of his two-decade career.
He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), and an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe). Duke earned his bachelor’s degree in Applied Math & Statistics from Stony Brook University and his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
“With the addition of Matthew, we continue to build out a strong team of industry talent and move another step closer to officially launching our underwriting operation,” said Matt Waters, head of U.S. Middle Market.
“Matt’s professional background, notably his work creating actuarial pricing infrastructure and portfolio monitoring tools to support underwriters, is very pertinent to our situation and efficiency focus.
“In his new position with us, Matt is responsible for creating our US Middle Market pricing infrastructure and strategy.”
By utilizing its underwriting, data, claims handling, and global capabilities strengths, AXA XL claims that its Mid-Market team is actively expanding its client offering in the United States.
In order to provide Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, General Liability, Property, and Umbrella to Private Equity businesses, the team expects to formally commence its underwriting activities in June 2023.
