Amwins promotes Andrew Kay as President of Amwins Specialty Casualty Solutions

Amwins Specialty Casualty Solutions (ASCS), a division of Amwins Underwriting, has named Andrew Kay as its president.

Andrew succeeds Munawar Ali, who oversaw Amwins Specialty Casualty Solutions since the company’s founding in 2011 and has subsequently moved into a new firm-level position centered on Amwins’ product development.

In his new position, Andrew will oversee one of Amwins’ largest underwriting operating companies, which has more than 20 programs that concentrate on specialized markets like Public Entity, PEO, Transportation, Healthcare, and Professional Lines with a total written premium of more than $1 billion annually.

As CEO of ASCS, Andrew will be in charge of a group of 80 experts who are tasked with providing clients with comprehensive, gold-standard service, which encompasses everything from broking to underwriting, claims administration, actuarial analysis, reinsurance, loss control, and audits.

Kay spent 15 years with Markel and Great American before joining Amwins in 2020. During this time, he started out in underwriting roles and gradually advanced to management positions with an emphasis on public entity insurance solutions.

Munawar Ali commented on the hiring, stating: “Andrew is a seasoned leader and change maker who brings a wealth of experience and expertise that is well-recognized in the industry and will continue promoting the evolution of our underwriting company.

He has a different perspective on the program sector, from how he strategically generates the sustainable capacity for programs through broad panels, great underwriting performance, and excellent analytics to stay ahead of the market to how he favorably separates ASCS from its rivals.
