Chris Colahan, a former Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance executive, has been named by AIG as regional president for Asia Pacific succeeding Singapore-based Steven Barnett, who is leaving the company after 31 years.
The hiring comes after Nigel Fitzgerald CEO of AIG Australia left to join Steadfast as COO.
Mr. Colahan, says it’s a privilege to join AIG, an “industry leader with world-class capabilities”. “AIG is known for delivering excellence in everything it does, and I am confident that we will successfully execute the Asia Pacific strategy with precision and a focus on quality outcomes,” he added.
Mr. Colahan is a a graduate of Australia’s Bond University and was most recently the BHSI President of the United Kingdom and Europe. C. Colahan has worked for two large insurance companies, RSA Insurance, where he was Regional CEO for Asia, and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.
He will report to Jon Hancock, CEO of AIG International General Insurance, who said the Asia Pacific area, which includes the Australian company, is an important market for AIG.
