Australia’s Insurance Council appoints Two(2) new non-executive directors
The Insurance Council (ICA) of Australia has appointed Ram Kangaharan and Justin Delaney as new non-executive directors to its board, who will serve a 12-month term beginning on May 16, 2023.
After spending five years as the Chief Financial Officer and later the Chief Operating Officer of Bank of Queensland, Kangatharan joined Auto & General in 2012, where he is now Group Managing Director and CEO of Auto & General for Asia Pacific.
Since July 2021, Delaney has led Zurich’s operations in Australia and New Zealand. He has held numerous senior executive positions during his more than 25 years of financial industry expertise.

At the company’s 43rd Annual General Meeting, where Delaney and Kangatharan’s appointments were also disclosed, outgoing Youi CEO Hugo Schreuder announced his resignation from the ICA Board.
On behalf of the Board, I am pleased both Delaney and Kangaharan have been able to join the Board of the Insurance Council and I welcome their expert contribution,” said ICA President Nick Hawkins.
At a critical juncture for the general insurance industry, the new appointments bring to the Board extensive experience in general insurance and financial services.”
