Chris Curran has been appointed Underwriting Advisor
Pen Underwriting has appointed Chris Curran as Underwriting Consultant for Freeboard Maritime.
The appointment of Chris Curran comes as the business continues to make investments in its brand-new maritime specialty area in the wake of the recent acquisition of five specialized marine MGAs.
Freeboard Maritime is a maritime professional liability (PI) and cargo liability company incorporated in June 2022. To offer new, globally-focused underwriting capabilities in Marine Liability, Port Liability and Terminal Liability, Maritime Warfare and Hijacking and Ransom, Brownwater and Hull and Engines: The firm partnered with Pen and merged with Vessel Protect, Trafalgar Marine Trades, BMM Ports & Terminals, and Fortify Marine together.
Chris Curran brings over 35 years of underwriting experience to his current position. In the areas of ship PI and cargo liability, he builds up a network of qualified experts, brokers, and capacity relationships. He also contributes his extensive technical knowledge to freeboard and pen.
Most recently, he was a senior underwriter at Markel International, where he underwrote PI and error and default risks for the shipping and offshore oil industries, and cargo liability for trucking and logistics companies for six years.
